Artistic Repairs

Our special art team handles valuable Persian and Oriental rugs. They focus on fixing tears and holes and restoring rugs to match their original look. The process starts by identifying the right color threads. Then, we repair and dye using natural plant and mineral extracts.

Each repair job involves matching the original warp and weft knots and carefully fixing the edges and fringes with wool, cotton, or silk threads.

We also repair woven fabrics and handmade cloth like Suzani pieces, embroidered items, and lace tablecloths. Our expert team uses skills from Persian, Turkish, Chinese, and Indian styles.

We source raw threads from top-quality suppliers in places like New Zealand, Scotland, and Persia. For Antique Rug Repair Los Angeles, we even work with suppliers in England and Germany to get swatches that match the rug’s age and style.

Fringe Stitching

Fringes are repaired in two main ways. One method uses ready-made fringes that we attach. The second, more detailed method involves hand-weaving the fringe base and tying it manually. This method makes the rug look like it did originally.

Holes,Tears & Worn Out

Repairing holes, tears, and worn areas starts by rebuilding the rug’s base using matching weft and warp threads. After that, we hand-recreate the missing patterns using threads that are dyed with care to match the original rug design.

Restoration (Color Separation)

When rugs are damaged by water and the colors mix, we fix this with a process called color separation. We use safe, natural materials to bring back the rug’s true colors without damaging them.

Finishing

When a rug is newly woven, a starch-based finish is sprayed on the back to make it firm. After two years of use, that finish wears off, and sand can settle in the rug’s base, making it hard. During cleaning, we remove that sand and apply a new finish to make the rug soft again.
